Do you enjoy working with software technologies and seeing solutions come to life?  If you like working with systems, providing solutions and delivering an exceptional service to customers, joining our organisation may be the ideal next step to grow your career in IT.

We work closely with our customers, selecting the right technologies; designing, creating and supporting solutions to ensure they meet their goals.  As our Junior Systems Administrator you'll be tasked with implementing the systems that we have developed for our customers, and keeping them updated and working effectively.  In addition, you'll also be involved with maintaining our own test, training and production systems as required.

On a day to day basis, there will be lots to do including:

  • remotely monitoring the general health of our customer systems

  • reviewing Application, App Server, Database & Operating System (Windows & Linux) logs for any issues

  • keeping our customer database schemas up to date with the latest releases

  • carrying out regular remote administration such as server ‘health checks’ and maintaining/synchronising system properties

  • extracting and applying data updates to internal and customer test, training & DR environments

  • maintaining in-house systems & IT infrastructure including Windows/Linux based virtual machines

  • testing developments and bug fixes

  • applying and monitoring customer Licence Keys for our products

As the role develops and your skill sets grow, there will be other areas of our business that we'd like to see you get involved in:

  • developing automation of the above tasks

  • implementation of new customer systems (either remotely or on-site)

  • carrying out major system upgrades

  • assisting with in-depth software testing

  • dealing with our customers and providing responses to queries relating to systems administration

  • maintenance of accurate and secure DNS and Firewalls

We won't expect you to have acquired all the relevant job related skills so to bring you up to speed, we'll work to provide you with the appropriate training - this will be a combination of attendance on external courses, internal courses conducted by our experienced staff and by personal research and Web based training.

We envisage that you will come to us with at least 2 years general computer systems administration experience, and be educated up to A Level standard (or equivalent).  No specific qualifications are expected as it's more important that you demonstrate the willingness and capability to learn and get involved with us.

We'll also be looking for someone that has a genuine interest in computing technology and any exposure to script writing (batch files, command files, powershell scripts etc) would be an advantage.

As we are a small company, you'll be flexible, happy to get stuck in, assist your colleagues and you’ll be open to change.

In return for your efforts, we provide an excellent range of benefits including a generous holiday allowance and private health insurance.

Salary on offer is between £22,000-26,000 dependent on your skills and experience to date.

Immediate interviews are available.
